The skies above Delavan Lake will be filled with brilliant colors as the annual Sky Circus on Ice takes flight this weekend.  Lake Lawn Resort is the destination to be this weekend.  Enjoy some of the greatest kite performers in the world – performing above the frozen Delavan Lake.  There will also be ice and snow carvers, concessions, snow carving class, snow slide, kite-making workshop, aerial candy drop, kite flying lessons, and of course warming stations and more.  The best part is that this event is free.

Save your seat at The Abbey Resort in Fontana’s Murder Mystery Dinner on Saturday evening.  The cost is $75 per person and you get a front row seat to a murder!  Enjoy a three- course dinner while solving this murder mystery about a wedding gone horribly wrong.  You can join in on the fun by wearing the most ridiculous wedding attire you can find.

Indoor Demo and Fitting Day AND Burton Demo Day

We have demo days from one extreme to the other on Saturday – Golf to Ski!  Hawk’s View Golf Club in Lake Geneva is having an Indoor Demo and Fitting Day from 9 am to 1 pm.  They are offering 50% Trade-In Bonuses, 10% Bonus Gift Card Promotion, AND Free Beer.  Try out and get custom fit for the 2020 Callaway product line – taking place in the state-of-the-art indoor Performance Center. Whitewater’s Freeze Fest is Saturday in Cravath Lakefront Park.  Enjoy a chili cook-off from 11 am to 2 pm.  The Polar Plunge – yes, jump in freezing cold water… for a cause – is from noon until 3 pm.  The funds raised benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes.

The Taste of the Tavern League is Sunday at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan from 12 pm to 3 pm.  Sample foods from Walworth County tavern and restaurants, as well as craft beer, wine, liquor, and Bloody Mary’s – all in one location on the beautiful shore of Delavan Lake.  Bella Cain will also be performing.  Tickets are only $40 in advance or $45 at the door.

Winterfest is here!  One of my favorite winter festivals.  So… sculpting of the giant blocks of snow started Wednesday with teams from around the country showing off their talent as they compete in the US National Snow Sculpting Competition.  Judging and awards are on Saturday. Just one more event I’d like to highlight – Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy in Williams Bay is having their Day In The Bay Night Hike on Saturday.  Enjoy the trails of the Kishwauketoe under the night sky with a short hike starting at 6 pm and a long hike starting at 6:30 pm.  Then partake in the bonfire with hot dogs and s’mores at 7 pm.

Lake Geneva Winterfest 2020

One of the highlights of the winter season in Walworth County is the annual Winterfest festival in Lake Geneva! Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or something a little more adventurous, this festival has you covered. The festival activities surround the main event – the US National Snow Sculpting Championship. There are 15 HUGE blocks of snow that artists from around the country carve into amazing works of art. Check out 2018 & 2019″s sculptures at the end of this post.

Something we all look forward to in winter – and it’s not the cold and snow… the Barnyard Bargain Bonanza at the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn on Saturday from 8 am to 3 pm. Hosted by the Walworth County Fair Barnyard Adventure. Located in the warm Activity Center, it features friendly vendors, trendy treasures, collectibles, handiwork, garage goods, and lots more.  Make sure to bring your appetite as the Barnyard Feed Bunk will be open with loaded baked potatoes, BBQ, and homemade pies.

Planning a wedding?  Or, know someone who is?  There are two Bridal Expos this weekend in Lake Geneva.  Head downtown to the Riviera on Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm for the Winter Bridal Expo.  Offering an afternoon of wedding planning, ideas, and inspiration – all while enjoying the great view of the lake.  On Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, head over to the Bridal Extravaganza at Hawk’s View Golf Club.  Meet local vendors while enjoying door prizes, butler passed hors d’ oeuvres, a fashion show, and more!Bridal Extravaganza

The Greatest Showman – Sing-Along

One of my favorite movies – and it’s a musical – is The Greatest Showman.  Young Auditorium is having The Greatest Showman Sing-Along on Saturday at 3 pm.  The lyrics will be on the screen so you can join in as loud as you want.  They are taking the circus theme to heart and turning Young Auditorium into Whitewater’s ‘big top’ for this family friendly movie experience.  Adults are only $3.50, children are $2.50, Young Auditorium members are free, and tickets are required.

Now, here’s a festival for me – Hot ChocolateFest! This festival in Burlington runs January 17 – 19. Friday will have skating, live music, dueling pianos, bon fire, & more. Saturday holds a free movie, more skating, broomball, bonfire, hot chocolate tasting, snowman decorating contest, artisan walk, chili tasting, live music. Sunday has a 5K, a pancake breakfast, & more. Come out to Burlington’s winter wonderland!

Lake Geneva Country Meats has found a way to help the fire victims in Australia. This Saturday, January 18, head to Lake Geneva Country Meats from 11 am – 2 pm for an Australian Wine Tasting. The help – 10 percent of the sales of all Australian Wines this week through January 19 will be donated to the NSW Rural Fire Service.  Raise a glass and help.

Fireside Dinner Theatre

fireside.jpgThe Fireside Dinner Theatre’s new show in 2020 is Saturday Night Fever. Capturing the historic flavor of disco-mania in New York City, this energetic musical is based on Nik Cohn’s 1975 New York Magazine article “Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night” and the Norman Wexler’s 1977 film. Catch a performance on Saturday at 10:30 am and 4:45 pm, and then again on Sunday at 10:30 am.

 

Rock The Barns

Rock The Barns.jpgHead to the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn on Saturday night for Rock The Barns – performing is the AC/DC Tribute Band – Back In Black.  Back by popular demand, this show sold out the last two years, so make sure to get your tickets in advance.  Doors open at 6 pm.  Food and beer will be available.  Tickets are only $20 each in advance online or $30 at the door, if there are any left to sell.

Illusionist Tristan Crist.jpgWe invite you to be amazed!  If you haven’t been to the Illusionist Tristan Crist’s new theater in Lake Geneva, make a point of catching the show this weekend.  There will be a performance on Saturday at 7 pm. This is a theatrical performance of modern magical illusion that is the perfect entertainment event for young and old alike. He is known for his energetic and charismatic onstage persona, and presents a show that is a step above the norm.
