Fall Fun Fridays: October 17

Walworth County has SO many great fall festivities, and we have gathered them all for you!  Each week, we are featuring Five Fun Fall Festivities (activities you can THIS WEEKEND).  For details or more activities, visit our website.

  1. Check out a local haunted attraction.

  2. Hike the Kettle Moraine State Forest, and enjoy the fall foliage.
    The Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest has more than 160 miles of trails, varying in difficulty, length and permitted uses. Steep climbs or descents are common. Parking lots are provided throughout the forest. All terrain vehicles (ATV’s) are not allowed on Southern Unit trails at any time.  dous-wbs-2-Ice-Age-Scenic-TR-1
  3. Visit Old World Wisconsin for “Autumn on the Farms.
    Celebrate the harvest season, and help our farm families and villagers bring in their crops, stock the larder and put up the produce for winter. Different seasonal activities each weekend in September and October.  DSC_0054
  4. Head to downtown Elkhorn for their annual Oktoberfest celebration this Saturday, October 18.
    A growing favorite in the community, the 9th Annual Elkhorn Oktoberfest will fill the town square with fall fun Saturday, October 18th from 9am-5pm in Veterans and Pocket Parks. Walk around the downtown square to see over 100 crafters and vendors showcasing handcrafted items, antiques, produce and plants, home party consultants and more. Head over to the north parking lot of the government center to see some beautiful classic cars during our 5th Oktoberfest Car Show. The kids will have plenty to keep them occupied with games, pumpkin decorating, bounce house, slides and more. Enjoy food, live music & entertainement and more – all at Elkhorn’s Oktoberfest!  elkhornoktoberfest (2)
  5. Take the family to the Family Fall Festival at Rushing Waters Fisheries.
    The day will be packed with fun for the entire family. Festivities begin at 10:00 am and continue throughout the entire day. Children and adults alike can make caramel apples and decorate pumpkins at designated stations from 10:00 – 4:00. Local vendors will be showcasing their products throughout the day. Live music by Sawdust Symphony, a fantastic new grass band, will fill the air from 1:00 – 6:00 along with wine tasting from 3:00 – 6:00. Children can compete in a fishing contest, with an iPod being awarded as first prize. A bouncy house, free fly fishing demonstrations, and hay wagon fish farm tours will also make for a memorable day.logan fishing
