31 Days of Halloween 2014

Can you believe it’s October already?!  While summer is a GREAT time to visit the Lake Geneva area, we always love fall here – there’s just something about the beautiful fall colors over the lakes, the pumpkin patches & apple orchards coming to life, and of course, all of the Halloween activities!  Walworth County boasts so many great Halloween activities, so we’ve compiled a list of 31 Halloween attractions, activities & festivities that you can attend this year!

31 Days of Halloween 2014

  1. Reserve a campsite at Snug Harbor for their trick or treating/Halloween weekend (Oct 3 – 5).  Enjoy a fun-filled weekend of trick-or-treating for the kids (and trick-or-drinking for adults), plus a pot luck dinner and costume party!
  2. Visit Jellystone Park of Fort Atkinson for Halloween fun every weekend (Oct 3 – 12).  Campers can take part in fall arts & crafts, visit the pumpkin patch, decorate their sites, and many other fun fall activities.
  3. Lose yourself in the Army Lake Camp Corn Maze in East Troy (Fridays-Saturdays through Nov 1).  Visit their 10-acre corn maze, take a hayride out to the pumpkin patch, or have fun at one of their many family-friendly activities.
  4. Embrace Victorian heritage and death customs at Black Point’s “Angels Carried Them Away” program (Oct 4, 11, 18).  The program features a Victorian funeral and mourning customs, plus a first floor house tour and the narrated lake boat tour aboard the Lake Geneva Cruise Line.
  5. Meet your friends at Dan Patch Stables in Lake Geneva for a haunted hayride (weekends, Oct 3 – Nov 1).  The hayrides start at 6pm every night Friday-Sunday, with the first ride of the night being a “family friendly” ride.
  6. Have a scary good time at Shockwave Haunts – four haunts at one site (Oct 4 – Nov 1).  This site features four haunts – including an adult comedy haunt and a mystery haunt to test your agility and aptitude.  Discounts available for those going into multiple haunts!
  7. Grab a seat at Old World Wisconsin’s “Sherlock Holmes” dinner theater (select dates Oct 10 – 26).  Guests will enjoy a themed meal before heading to the theater for a night of mystery, detective work, and humor.
  8. Spook yourself on the Spirit Tour in Whitewater – and spot a spirit or two (Oct 11).  The night starts at Randy’s with refreshments and a video on the legendary Pratt Institute.  Then, board the music to visit sites throughout Whitewater, ending the evening at Second Salem.
  9. Enjoy the Singing Pumpkins in Edgewater Park on Friday & Saturday nights (Oct 3 – 31).  This animated light show features pumpkins singing popular Halloween songs, along with a chorus of foam pumpkins.  Sit in the park to enjoy the show or watch from your car while tuning into 90.5 FM.
  10. Learn about Halloween Legends & Lore at Old World Wisconsin (select dates Oct 11 – 31).  Have you ever wondered why a Jack O Lantern is called just that?  Find the answer to this and many more Halloween legends at this annual celebration of Wisconsin folk tales and ghost stories.
  11. Discover what’s lurking in the shadows of the woods at The Haunt in Walworth (Oct 3 – Nov 1).  Featuring two attractions, visitors can choose from a hayride through the haunted woods or a walk through The Haunt (indoor attraction) – or both, if you dare.
  12. Smash pumpkins on the Pumpkin Drop at Lake Geneva Canopy Tours (Oct 1 – 31).  Everyone who participates in a canopy tour during October will have the opportunity to participate in the Pumpkin Drop.  Drop your pumpkin from the Dual Racing Zip Line, aiming for the bull eye as you zip by.  If you hit the center, you win a FREE canopy tour!
  13. Explore the Haunted Trails at Scenic Ridge Campground (Saturdays, Oct 4 – 18).  The Haunted Trail at Scenic Ridge is back – for three Saturdays only!  Join them in October for a haunted trail walk, if you dare…starting at 7:30 pm each Saturday.
  14. Prep your costume for the parade & downtown trick-or-treating during “Spooky City” in downtown Burlington (Oct 25).  Spooky City kicks off at 9:30 am with mad scientist fun & treats, followed by free hayrides around downtown, a costume parade, safe trick-or-treating, and a family-friendly showing of “Ghostbusters” at the Plaza Theater.
  15. Find fun at “Spooktacular” in Genoa City – with a costume contest, hayride & games (Oct 25).  Featuring a costume contest, haunted hayride, fun games, and food/refreshments, you’ll find fun for the whole family at this festive event.
  16. Head to downtown Whitewater for fun at “Trick Or Treat The Triangle” (Oct 25).  Downtown businesses will be open for trick-or-treating 2 – 4 pm, followed by fun at Caldron Alley, including a maze, pumpkin carving, cookie decorating, and a costume contest.
  17. Hike your way through Bong State Recreation Area during the Eco-Halloween Hike (Oct 18).  This non-scary, outdoor event is great for the family.  Arrive anytime between 6:30 – 8:00 pm to sign up for a hike through Bong State Recreation Area.  Enjoy jack o’ lanterns, Halloween skits, fires, refreshments, games & crafts throughout the evening.
  18. Join the festivities at the Halloween Party at the Linn Fire Department (Oct 25).  Join the township for a fun Halloween party starting at noon at the Linn Fire Dept. building.
  19. Attend Scare on the Square in downtown Elkhorn – with obstacle courses, costume contests, spooky stories, and more (Oct 25).  This free family festival is for kids ages 3-12 years old, and features an obstacle course, drawing booth, costume contest, giveaways & more!
  20. Bring the kids to the Youth Halloween Party in Whitewater for fun games & prizes (Oct 25).  Join the fun for just 50 cents – or one food item donation to the local pantry!  The event will offer games and prizes, geared towards preschool & elementary age children.
  21. Trick or Treat on Main Street, at the Geneva Lake Museum (Oct 26).  From 12 – 1 pm, children (and their adults) are invited to come to the museum in costume for some indoor trick or treating fun.  The event is free, so put on that costume & head to the Geneva Lake Museum.
  22. Win great prizes at Ghouls Night Out in Whitewater’s uptown business district (Oct 23).  Visit the uptown business district Thursday afternoon (10/23) for activities, games, sales, trick-or-treating and prizes for all ages.
  23. Have fun at “Boo In The Bay” events in Williams Bay (Oct 24 – 25).  On Friday night, take part in the Enchanted Walk – or The Hunt of Davy Jones’ Locker (both events at Lions Field House).  On Saturday, the great Pumpkin Race will take place at Barrett Memorial Library.  This year’s theme is “pirates.”
  24. Hop aboard the Hayride or walk the Haunted Trail at Wildwood Park in Darien (Oct 25).  From 4:30 – 6 pm, the haunted trail will be family friendly.  Come between 7 – 9 pm for a scare!
  25. Trick or treat tomorrow in the following communities: Lake Geneva, Town of Geneva (Oct 26).  Visit the Events Calendar for times.
  26. Party with the Town of Delavan tonight at the Halloween Party at Community Park (Oct 26).  Come to Community Park for treat or treating 12 – 3 pm, and the Halloween Party starts at 3 pm.  Enjoy hayrides, a magician, games, costume costume & more!
  27. Scare your friends with a trip to Dr. S Cary’s Haunted House in Fort Atkinson (Oct 3 – Nov 1).   Featuring two haunts and over 10,000 square feet of haunted fun, this attraction has been voted #1 in the region!
  28. Decorate your car for “Trunk or Treat” at Christ Episcopal Church in Delavan (Oct 31).  Celebrate All Hallow’s Eve in the Christ Episcopal Church parking lot with festive cars, treats, hot dogs & more.
  29. Paint and sip the night away at Studio Winery’s themed Corks & Canvas (Oct 31).  At this special painting event, adults can paint a blacklight glow ‘sugar skull’ painting.  Costumes are optional at this festive event.
  30. Trick or treat tomorrow in the following communities: Bloomfield/Pell Lake, Burlington, Delavan, Town of Delavan, Darien, East Troy, Elkhorn, Fontana, Genoa City, Lyons, Sharon, Walworth, Whitewater, Williams Bay (Oct 31).  Visit the Events Calendar for times.
  31. Join the fun at Beer & Spirits at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa (Nov 1).  The Beer & Spirits Festival fun is back for another year!  Join the festivities at Grand Geneva for just $40, and receive unlimited tastings from over 25 craft breweries, plus specialty liquors and foods.
