Walworth County Fall Festivals [2014]

It’s Labor Day weekend – and for most, this means back to school and the start of fall.  It doesn’t have to mean the end of fun though!  There’s so much to look forward to in the autumn season when you visit the Lake Geneva area – hayrides, scenic drives, apple picking, carving pumpkins, and (my favorite) local fall festivals!

Walworth County boasts some of the best fall festivals around, and they happen throughout the season, so you’re bound to find one that you can go to!

Fall Festivals 2014

Walworth County Fair | Elkhorn
August 27 – September 1
If you haven’t been to the fair yet – hurry up!  The fair will be open and filled with fun for the whole family now through Monday evening.  With great musical acts performing, plus delicious fair food, carnival rides & games, farm exhibits and more, the Walworth County Fair is known as one of the best fairs in Wisconsin.

Darien Corn Fest | Darien
September 5-7
This festival is a favorite for young and old alike, featuring free sweet corn from 11 am – 3 pm on Saturday & Sunday.  Three days of outstanding live entertainment, volleyball and softball tournaments, bingo, a carnival, fireworks display, food, beer tent, and a parade are just a ‘few’ of the events planned for this weekend!


Wine & Food Festival | Delavan
September 5-6
Wine and food enthusiasts will rejoice at this two-day festival!  Joint he wine dinner on Friday night, or head to “The Great Taste” on Saturday 12-5 pm, which will feature wines and area restaurants.  Saturday will also offer a “farm fresh to table” marketplace with locally grown produce, grass-fed meats, artisan cheeses, and more.WineFestLogo

Taste of Lake Geneva | Lake Geneva
September 13
Another great foodie event is happening on Saturday, September 13 at Flat Iron Park in Lake Geneva.  From 11 am to 5 pm, the park will be overflowing with food tents offering tempting treats from the area’s finest dining establishments.  Enjoy a boutique wine tasting and brews from Lake Geneva Brewing Company, Sprecher’s and New Glarus in our “Madras Lounge.” Wrap up the summer in style, and don’t forget to wear your whale pants, monograms, and PLAID!


Delavan Scarecrow Fest | Delavan
September 13
Head to downtown Delavan for the annual Scarecrow Fest.  Participate in the famous “Build a Scarecrow” event or head to the Phoenix Park Bandshell for live concerts throughout the day.  A flea market, pie auction, duck races, plus food & beverage vendors will all be located downtown for this local festival.
Scheduled activities include: free pumpkin painting, free children’s face painting, live music by Cheryl Niemo & the Down Home Boys, Live music by Cedric Square, vendors in the park, sidewalk sales, food, and our Fourth Annual pie & cake auction! You can even build your own scarecrow and take it home with you. The nominal $10 fee includes supplies and help to build your scarecrow.


East Troy Bluegrass Festival | East Troy
September 13-14
The village square in East Troy comes alive with music this weekend, as it becomes to home to the 21st annual East Troy Bluegrass Festival, where live bands play both Saturday & Sunday, and fans can delight in great food, contests, and more!  Performers include:  Milkhouse Radio, Bluegrass Express, Piper Road Spring Band, The Karl Shiflett & Big Country Show, Big Cedar, The Bluegrass Cavaliers, The Burie Family, Above The Town, and more.

Antique & Classic Boat Show | Fontana
September 27-28
Head to the water for the annual Antique & Classic Boat Show, located at the Abbey Resort.  The show features classic and vintage boats from all over the country; boats are on display throughout the weekend for free public viewing.  PLUS – Stop by Saturday at 4 pm for the boat parade on Geneva Lake.


Antique Flea Market | Elkhorn
September 28
This local flea market is a huge hit with people all over the state – with over 500 dealers, you’re sure to find a great deal at the Antique Flea Market, held at the Walworth County Fairgrounds.  For more information on the flea market (plus tips on how to get the most out of your day!), click HERE.


Lake Geneva Oktoberfest | Lake Geneva
October 11-12
The 23rd annual Lake Geneva Oktoberfest will include music, magic, and the Great Pumpkin Giveaway (1 pm) on Saturday!  Enjoy food & craft booths, downtown shopping specials, wagon hayrides, pony rides, bounce houses, and more.
There will be a FREE shuttle this weekend for downtown Lake Geneva – Pick up/Drop off locations: Free Parking at the northeast corner of the Home DePot Parking lot. (Hwy 50 & Edwards Blvd.). And drop off/pickup at Downtown U.S. Bank, 303 Center St. Sat. 10am-7pm., Sun. , 10am – 7pm. Running continuously approximately every 20 minutes.


Elkhorn Oktoberfest | Elkhorn
October 18
The 9th annual Elkhorn Oktoberfest will fill the town square with fall fun for the whole family from 9 am to 5 pm on this autumn Saturday!  Peruse the craft fair, the classic car show, food booths, or enjoy live entertainment on the stage.  Kids will love the games, pumpkin decorating, bounce house, slides, and more.  Plus – don’t miss the chili cook-off or the wine & beer tasting tent!


Delavan Oktoberfest | Delavan
October 25
Join the town of Delavan at Community Park for another great fall festival, featuring live music, a variety of German foods, beers, wines, pastries, desserts, and vendor booths!  There is no charge for this community festival, so bring the whole family down for a fun time!


Beer & Spirits | Lake Geneva
November 1
Don’t miss out on the fun!  This adults-only festival features “brews, bites, and so much fun…it’s scary.”  Guests can enjoy unlimited tastings of beer plus specialty liquors and foods.  Live music will be playing throughout the event plus games and fun activities.  Not drinking?  No problem – they offer a special designated driver ticket that includes unlimited gourmet soda, food sampling, and entertainment.
