Skiing in the Lake Geneva Area

Whether you are looking for slopes or a freshly groomed trail, Walworth County has winter skiing for you!  Cross country skiing is bountiful in this area, with beautiful paths stretching throughout the entire county.  If  the wind in your face is more your pace, downhill skiing can be found at two area resorts.

Cross Country Skiing

Big Foot State Park

The park entrance is at 1550 S. Lake Shore Drive, one mile south of the city of Lake Geneva. Geographical coordinates are 42° 33′ 59.3″ N, 88° 26′ 10.9″. Vehicle admission sticker is required. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing allowed; bring your own equipment. Weather permitting.


Duck Pond Recreation Area

Cross country skiing allowed on the recreation trails.  Bring your own skis; weather permitting.

Geneva National

Enjoy skiing over the Gary Player course.  Complimentary ski rental available to Geneva National Resort guests.  Trail will be open depending on weather and snow accumulation. Register for equipment in Geneva National Golf Club’s Pro Shop, call (262) 245.7000, Press 1.

Kettle Moraine State Forest – Southern Unit

The Nordic, McMiller, and Scuppernong trails are open for skiing when there is enough snow.  Hiking, pets, and snowshoes are prohibited on these ski trail systems when they are groomed for skiing.  A state trail pass is required for skiers 16+ years of age.  Trails can be closed with very little warning if weather changes. Please call the Trail Information Line, 262-594-6202 before venturing out.  Vehicle admission sticker is required. A state trail pass is required for bikers, horseback riders, and skiers 16 years of age and older.


Downhill Skiing

Alpine Valley Resort is set in the beautiful Sugar Creek Valley with mature trees and rolling terrain common to the Kettle Moraine Area.
